R語言是一種用來進行數(shù)據(jù)探索、統(tǒng)計分析、作圖的解釋型語言。它具有豐富的數(shù)據(jù)類型、靈活多樣的作圖功能，以及數(shù)量眾多的算法功能包。目前已在各行各業(yè)贏得數(shù)據(jù)分析者的青睞，并成為眾多科研工作者、商業(yè)機構(gòu)、與公司進行數(shù)據(jù)分析非常重要的一門工具。
R語言的網(wǎng)絡數(shù)據(jù)分析用途多樣而且實用。R語言提供了多個圖形類型軟件包實現(xiàn)分析，因此獲得廣泛應用。在大數(shù)據(jù)分析中，R語言有優(yōu)勢。R語言網(wǎng)絡分析的特點是（1）編程簡單。不想c、C++,java等難學。（2）網(wǎng)絡分析靈活。例如Cytoscape（http//www.cytoscape.org/）生物學網(wǎng)絡軟件，盡管能輸出許多分析的報表，但是只能做常規(guī)的、固定的網(wǎng)絡分析。不能接受多種的網(wǎng)絡數(shù)據(jù)格式，而且不能適用不同的算法，例如修改圖的廣度優(yōu)先算法，因此適應性差。
