昆蟲學是生態(tài)學專業(yè)的一門重要專業(yè)課程。其開設的目的是該專業(yè)的學生
了解昆蟲學的基礎知識，掌握主要農作物的害蟲的發(fā)生規(guī)律和防治措施，為今后的防治實踐
奠定良好的理論和實踐基礎。
昆蟲學是一門綜合性學科，它必須講授昆蟲外部形態(tài)、昆蟲生理學、昆蟲生物學、昆蟲
分類、昆蟲生態(tài)學及害蟲預測預報、害蟲綜合防治原理及方法等基礎知識，為講授農作物害
蟲奠定基礎。
昆蟲學中各論部分實踐性、地區(qū)性、時間性均很強，因此以長江中下游地區(qū)和江蘇省的
主要害蟲為主，具體講授水稻、小麥、棉花、蔬菜、林果等作物發(fā)生的主要害蟲及地下害蟲，
使同學們能夠融會貫通、舉一反三。
昆蟲學理論課以課堂講授為主，結合實驗教學，以加深理解課程的內容。課堂講授主次
分明，重點突出。多講授一些最新動態(tài)，以教師的實踐經驗提高學生興趣；進行課堂提問，
督促學生復習；在教學中根據不同專業(yè)特點，可適當刪除和補充相關作物害蟲講述，并向不
同專業(yè)學生提供相關的參考書和專業(yè)雜志目錄，并督促學生閱讀，以擴大學生知識面，提高
學生分析問題和解決問題的綜合能力。
